Our Philosophy

Dr. Chartrand believes in your body's natural ability to create and sustain health. His goal is to provide care that benefits the entire person, not just to alleviate symptoms. As a result, Dr. Chartrand's practice relies on a vision of integrated care. Prescribed medications are often coupled with diet and exercise programs, or even simple meditation. With most patients, the goal is to stop the medication once the lifestyle changes are sustainable.

About Michelle Newton, NP-C

Michelle Newton, NP-C

Michelle Newton was born in a little town called Kremmling, Colorado, to a set of ambitious parents who ran a ski boot business. Her first two years were spent moving around the slopes with her parents and living in a mobile home in Colorado as her father ran the first of his successful businesses. At the age of two, her parents left the nomadic lifestyle to move to Garland, Texas. Today they live in the same house where Michelle's earliest fond memories began with her two younger brothers. Her childhood was filled with the joy and exhilaration of sibling rivalries, learning to snow ski, and playing numerous sports while also forming a foundation of health and most importantly faith in Christ. This faith has impacted decisions, life, activities, volunteering, and babysitting throughout Michelle's teenage years and into her early nursing career.

At the age of thirteen, Michelle was first impacted by health care with a dear friend who struggled and eventually lost her fight with a rare form of cancer. During her childhood adventures with this friend, Michelle began to learn and practice medicine, knowing that eventually medicine would be a huge part of her life. These experiences led Michelle to the early realization that nurses often made or broke the day of her friend during hospitalization, and early childhood play often revolved around treating sick children and working out struggles that adults often cannot even comprehend. After her friend's death, Michelle worked very hard in honors classes, eventually leaving her high school and graduating through correspondence courses at the age of sixteen. After proving to her parents her ability to study with older classmates and excelling in education at Dallas Junior Colleges, she then attended undergraduate at Baylor University. Michelle graduated with a Nursing Degree and obtained Registered Nurse licensure in 2001 and was asked to be part of Sigma Theta Tau, the honors nursing society. After 5 years of nursing in areas including Adult Acute Care ICU, Emergency Medicine, Neonatal Intensive Care, Pediatric Specialty Clinics, and numerous Management positions, Michelle returned to school to pursue her dreams in medicine of treating patients. She received a Master's degree from the Louise Herrington School of Nursing at Baylor University, graduating in 2006, again accepting membership in Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society of Nursing. Michelle's experience increased significantly with vast proficiency working as a Nurse Practitioner in Emergency Medicine and various family practice offices since that time. Her passion for Emergency Medicine and her knowledge and incorporation of Holistic treatment in everyday practice is important and makes her ability to care for patients to help them achieve optimal health unique. Her current memberships include: Sigma Theta Tau, North Texas Nurse Practitioner Association, Texas Nurse Practitioners, American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and American College of Nurse Practitioners (which have combined as American Association of Nurse Practitioners), the Emergency Nurse Association and the American Holistic Nurses Association.

In 2003, Michelle married her husband Josh, and they currently live in Plano, Texas. They have a fabulous church home at Northwest Bible Church where their four children are learning more about Jesus and the importance of seeking Him first in their lives. All four children are thriving with holistic care implemented at home. Morgan, born in 2006, is a competitive gymnast, an excellent student, and a passionate child who wants to grow up and serve others for Jesus as a doctor. John, born in 2007, is a competitive gymnast who has a huge heart, love for people, and wants to grow up and be a doctor or veterinarian who pilots airplanes and lives on a ranch. The twins, Lily and Katy, born in 2010, are bright young girls who are excited about gymnastics, ballet, swimming and learning, and they both say they want to grow up and be like mommy, which is a compliment that keeps Michelle striving for excellence in pursuits as a mommy and healthcare provider. Josh and Michelle are excited after seven years to be out of the diaper stage and truly enjoying creating childhood memories with the family through sports, lots of time in the outdoors, and teaching them about construction and medicine.

Michelle believes that medicine is constantly changing and requires constant evaluation of treatment modalities that bring the best outcome for the individual. Unique patients in family practice, the Emergency Room, and having four unique children has helped Michelle integrate specialized care for each patient she sees to bring them to optimal wellness. Michelle's goal is that you don't have to see her, because you are healthy, off your medications, and feeling your best but that you also know where to come when you aren't feeling your best.

1969 Cadillac Ambulance

Some people dream of sports cars. ER doctors dream of emergency vehicles. Sure it gets hot with no air-conditioning, but when you are just going to the grocery store it gets you there in style. You can bring home a lot of groceries in an ambulance. And if traffic ever gets to be a problem, the lights and sirens really work!

Dr. Chartrand's ambulance is a fan favorite in many of the local parades. Our ambulance took first prize in the 2009 Allen Christmas Parade with the theme "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer... So She Called Dr. Chartrand in Downtown McKinney."

The ambulance is maintained by Earl Burdick of Burdick Auto Solutions in McKinney.

I love this practice. I especially love taking my kids there. Dr. Chartrand is fantastic with little ones and I appreciate that he isn't prescribing something every 5 minutes. I feel like he has a very balanced approach to health.

Any time I've needed to schedule an appointment I have received an email or call back almost immediately, and have received the same attention to any questions I have regarding Emma's health care. My husband and I are amazed that the cost for this superb care is so minimal, especially considering that our former pediatrician charged a whopping $285 for a 5-minute visit with her, and we were even cash pay! GO see Dr. Chartrand!
